I wonder why I keep losing 10 pounds and then sabotage my efforts. I am sure this is something I should try to figure out so as to learn to not do it anymore.

The family wedding was last weekend. It was very nice. I had a great time and even found something to wear. I am trying to get back in focus and make significant progress both with my weight loss and finding a job. I need to get more organized on both fronts and get a plan.

Tonight I started my couch to 5k program. I barely survived my first program! But I can do this! I just noticed found the podcasts that tell you when to run and when to walk with music. I am going to try one next time. It is a 9 week program. That means the soonest race I could do would be the week of May 19.  Here is where I will track my progress.

On May 26, 2008, there is the Brian Kraft Memorial 5k. Last year, there were 297 male finishers and 187 female finishers. The fee is $20 ($25 on race day) and I get t-shirt. My brother & his friend are doing a fundraiser that involves hiking the the Appalachian Trail this summer. Maybe if I do a 5k or two, I can learn about organizing one and some day organize a 5k for MLD. I will have to keep my eye out for another 5k that I might want to run in sometime after May 19.



Good week despite

So despite not blogging much this week, not keeping up with my water, and not doing very good with any of my dinners, I managed to get back down to -9.  I think in a day or two I should be back to -10.  I have been moving every night.  I spend a good two hours on my feet cleaning, organizing, moving furniture, doing laundry, etc.  I think that is definately an improvement over my preference to sit like a lump and watch t.v.

Tonight is another story.  Tonight is Family Fun  Night.  FFN means dinner, some board games, and a movie or two.  Dinner will be lasagna, I am trying to make lasagna like my friend Tanya’s mom does.  It is  cheesy- yummy-deliciousness.  I love it!  And there will be garlic bread!  Love it!

Keeping it together

Well, going to the grocery store last night helped me stay on track. I did nibble here and there for probably more than 3 points.  But I have salad supplies and am 5 servings into my fruit & veggs for the day (and only 1 of those is fruit!).

Breakfast:  Fiber1 Bar, White Cheddar Rice Cake -3 (21)
Snack: Cheese Wedge on a 100 English Muffin-2 (19)
Lunch: Salad with Salad Spray, LC 3 Cheese Grilled Chicken w/ broccoli & red peppers, nectarine, and 100 Calorie Cheese Nips Pack -7 (12) (Very filling lunch)

Water Count: 50 oz

Veggie Count: 5 (the LC package said it had 2 servings sure didn’t look like 2)



Just Plodding Along

OK, so last week I gained 2lbs and this week I have not gained or lost any weight. That puts me at a total loss so far of 6lbs. Not bad but I was hoping to be further along by now. I really need to get back to working out. Now that we are moved in and have a lot of our stuff unpacked it should be easier to do. Also, I am really looking forward to daylight savings time starting on Sunday. The additional sunlight will make walking after work a lot more do-able.  Yippee!



Struggling

Last week was a rough week. Between the stress caused by the dog we were fostering, my general finding a job in another state stress, getting ready for K’s birthday party and every day life, I let myself get sidetracked. This week, I am getting back on track. I have enough good food to make it through today without feeling like I am on a diet. I have an extra late afternoon snack with me so that I can go to the grocery store without getting out of control.

Breakfast: Special K w/ milk -3 (21)
Snack: Kashi Bar -2 (19)
Lunch: 100 Calorie Cheese Nips pack, 3 Cheese Grilled Chicken w/ Broc & Red Peppers, Salad -6 (12)

Dinner: PB&J, 100 calorie cupcake cake pack – 6 (3)

The little things . . .

Making big changes can be daunting and overwhelming. Back In Skinny Jeans has a post called Two Tiny Changes Tuesdays.

I feel like I should say something like “and here are the two tiny changes I am going to make”. But I am drawing a blank. I’m sure I’ll come up with something.

Update: I decided that my first little thing would be to add 1 extra serving of vegs to my diet a diet this week.  (it’s a start . . .) That will mean I have 3 servings a day.  Then in a week or two I will add another serving.



Rough Start

Hopefully, my breakfast is not a sign of the rest of my day . . .it has been a rough start, no time for breakfast so I stopped at the local donut shop, then some woman was in front of the donut case with the cake donuts filling a box and occasionally just standing and staring. So I got a glazed twist. It was yummy. There are no glazed twists in Complete Food Companion so I am going to call it the same as 1.5 glazed 4″ diameters. 9 Points! Holy Monkeys! I am going to be up late on the treadmill tonight!

Breakfast: Donut, sigh. -9 (15)
Lunch: WW Smart Ones Broccoli & Cheddar Roasted Potatoes (yum!), banana, kashi bar. -7 (8)
Snack: Cheese & Crackers, 100 cal hostess pack -4 (4)
Dinner: This was bad, very bad, little caesar’s baby pan pan & breadsticks -25 (-21)
Snack: and then it got worse, A Snickers Bar -5 (a guess, my slider is in the cold car) (-26)

Well then, I have a whopping 9 flex points left this week, make that 6 looks like I used 3 on Monday night. Hot diggity dog!  I am not looking forward to the number on the scale tomorrow morning.

Also I did not work out yet tonight and I don’t plan to. Tomorrow will be significantly better.
